Interior Design Project A few years later, the clients of this splendid apartment contacted me again to oversee the interior design project for the extension works. The clients’ wish was to redesign the living area, creating a new dining room in the pentagonal entrance space and a conversation lounge in the newly acquired room. A large opening connects the pentagonal room—dominated at its center by a circular table with a marble top, custom-designed by Umbrian craftsmen and illuminated by a beautiful Poliedri chandelier by Carlo Scarpa—with the new lounge, which develops around a marble fireplace, carved from the same slab, positioned at the center of a bookcase with open shelves and storage units in reeded wood, all custom-designed. The bookcase is backlit with perimeter LED strips to create a warm, enveloping atmosphere.The new space blends seamlessly with the rest of the apartment, as if the original project had envisioned the extension from its very first conception. “Marble in Love” always gives me something in return, every time I come back to visit it.
